RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Troopers confirm a cyclist was injured in an accident involving a vehicle during Sunday's Ironman race.

Authorities say the incident happened just after 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of New Hill Holleman Road and Shearon Harris Road.

Troopers say a car passed bikers in a double-yellow no passing zone, while traveling at 50 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Deputies on the road told the driver -- Shelia Morrison -- to slow down, but she hit the brakes and cut in front of the bikers before stopping.

At that point, the lead bicyclist, Jon Segerstrom, struck her passenger side door.

Segerstrom was taken to WakeMed with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Morrison has been charged with careless and reckless driving and failure to obey traffic officer.
