After criticism, bookmobile ban reversed

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- After intense criticism, a Raleigh apartment complex is reversing its decision to ban a bookmobile from their property.

Yesterday it was reported that the management at the Grand Arbor Reserve complex had banned the bookmobile because it wasn't sponsored by the corporate owner.

The apartment's management said it was looking out for the safety of the children.

The bookmobile relies on volunteers and teachers from Lacy Elementary to load their cars each week and visit nearby neighborhoods. It's a way to keep kids reading during the summer.

Following the strong response, the complex will now allow the bookmobile to "complete this summer's activities," according to the News & Observer.
