CHICAGO -- Say it isn't so! A revamped version of Bubble Wrap is on the way. But you won't be able to pop it.

Sealed Air first put Bubble Wrap on the market in 1960. The company is rolling out a new version of the packaging material that looks much like the original. But the new bubbles won't have the same "pop."

That urge to snap the bubbles has inspired events over the last 55 years where hundreds of people gather for hours of popping fun.

Students and staff at one Minnesota school recently set a Guinness World Record for the most people popping Bubble Wrap at the same time. Organizers gathered 942 people into the gym for a bubble-popping frenzy.

There is also a Facebook page devoted to "Popping Bubble Wrap." It has around half a million followers.
