Two men drown saving father and daughter at Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Two men drowned on Saturday attempting to save the lives of a father and his daughter at Carolina Beach.

Officials said that they received a call at about 3:48 Saturday afternoon.

Upon arrival, they were made aware that two men had gone into the water to help the father and daughter.

Both the father and daughter were rescued, but the two other men drowned.

Authorities identified the men as 60-year-old Don Boles of Eagle Springs, North Carolina, and 53-year-old James Barbour of Clayton, North Carolina.

The bodies were taken to the Medical Examiner's Office as part of the process, the family members have already been notified.
