Worker's center opens in Carrboro

CARRBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Leaders in Carrboro are celebrating the opening of a new worker's center that's been years in the making.

The Carrboro Day Laborer Task Force and El Centro Hispano hosted the grand opening of the Center for Employment and Leadership on Sunday.

Community activists marked to the new location on Weaver Street. It's a place where employers can connect with prospective employees in areas like construction, painting, cleaning, and landscaping.

El Centro Hispano is the state's largest grassroots Latino organization.
