CARY, NC (WTVD) -- The Town of Cary Police Department says thanks to a slew of tips from the public, it has made an arrest in the case of man accused of exposing himself in a store.

Christopher Vincent Sumrell, 25, of Ribbon Lane, Cary, has been arrested and charged with six counts of indecent exposure.

It happened Monday at Lynn's Party Plus on Kildaire Farm Road.

The victim said a man asked for help picking out a birthday card and then exposed himself when he came up to the counter to pay for it.

Sumrell was taken into custody Wednesday evening and is being detained at the Wake County Public Safety Center.

He faces a class two misdemeanor, which carries a maximum fine of 1-60 days of active, intermediate, or community punishment.

"The speedy arrest of this criminal was only possible because of the tips we received from our community. We're thankful for this relationship as we all work together to keep Cary one of the safest places to live, work and raise a family," said Criminal Investigations Captain Randall Rhyne.

It's not Sumrell's first arrest on similar charges. ABC11 reported he was accused of exposing himself to two fellow students at Peace University in 2013.

Though an arrest has been made, anyone with additional information related to the crimes is still urged to contact the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at (919) 226-CRIM(E).
