Family gifted new Christmas tree
A community helped a family who had their Christmas tree stolen earlier this week

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Just days after thieves stole a Raleigh family's outdoor Christmas tree, a local grocery store chain delivered a new one... and much more.

Friday, the Food Lion Better Bus Tour made a stop at the Ward's home with a 6 foot Frasier fir. The group even took the time to decorate it.

The family also received a meal with all the fixings.

"It's been a little unreal that it happened, and it's been nice to have support from the community. It's extremely kind," said Karen Ward.

On Monday night, crooks swiped their original tree from their front porch leaving ornaments strewn on the lawn.

Police still do not have any leads on who took the tree.

Friday night, the Ward family turned this act of kindness into one of their own, donating their meal to a homeless shelter in downtown Raleigh.
