RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Johnston County high school teacher, and three of her family members, were in Wake County court Monday after being arrested Friday and charged with multiple drug offenses.

Police said they found more than 10 pounds of marijuana in their Knightdale home.

Brittany Coley is a 22-year-old social studies teacher at West Johnston High School. She and her family live in Knightdale. She's currently on paid administrative leave.

Together, she and her family face charges including drug trafficking, manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, maintaining a dwelling for keeping or selling controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Coley's sister, Ashlyn, and mother, Susan Frost, also appeared in court Monday. Judge Ned Mangum lowered their bonds to $50,000 each.

The lawyer for Coley's father, 52-year-old Tracey Frost, said Frost is going to accept all responsibility for the operation. He's charged with manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for keeping or selling, and possession with intent to distribute.

"My client is gravely ill and has accepted already full responsibility for this entire ordeal," said Frost's attorney, Bill Young.

Young said Frost is "riddled with cancer" and other serious illnesses.

"He feels horrible that his health concerns and the fact he decided to use marijuana to self-medicate has now caused his family this distress, and he's going to do everything he can do to make it right before he dies, which, candidly could be very soon," said Young.
