WILMINGTON, NC -- After a Wilmington boy offered to mow lawns to raise money for school supplies, he got a lot of attention from community members.
Ten-year-old Tyran Bell said his family is having a tough time and he decided to work to help his family financially by mowing lawns, WWAY reported.
Community members heard about his story and donated school supplies and clothing to him, his brother and other kids in the community.
Bell said he wants to continue mowing lawns and he is thankful for all the support.
"I feel blessed because someone blessed me and now I am able to bless others," Bell said.
There are two other donation locations set up for Bell. One is at the Wilmington Journal. The other is at 925 Kerr Avenue Beach Maintenance Office.
A1 Security Services in Wilmington is a donation location as well. Theresa Babb, A1 Security Services owner, said they have been collecting items for Tyran and an excess supplies will be donated to other kids.
She said 13 people have donated there and it's about $300 worth of supplies and clothing.
"I did not expect so many people to come through and they're still coming through. All I can think about is how many kids it's going to help," said Babb.
