Durham police track down truck suspected in hit-and-run

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating a hit-and-run that happened just before 3:45 a.m. Sunday on the Durham Freeway.

Police said two men were hit by a white 2007 GMC Yukon being driven by Elijahio Taylor Jr., 18, of Durham. He fled the scene but was later found on Bedford Street.

Witnesses helped the two injured men before police arrived. Chase Tripp, 25, and J.C. Justice III, 27, were taken to the hospital. Tripp is in critical condition and Justice is in stable condition, according to police.

Charges are pending against Taylor. Police said that speed and alcohol were not factors.
