CARY (WTVD) -- A power outage in the west Cary area left at least four schools and over a thousand residents in the dark Thursday morning.

Officials say a construction crew hit a line on Carpenter Fire Station Road, causing the black out around 10 a.m.

The outage impacted Panther Creek High, Green Hope High, Green Hope Elementary and Carpenter Elementary for over an hour.

No classes were canceled, but the schools had to make alternate lunch plans, according to school officials.
