Raleigh man in critical condition after falling off pier: Family asks for donations and prayers

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Daniel Flores, 41, is in critical condition at Duke Hospital after falling off a pier in Emerald Isle, NC.
His family asks for donations and prayers as he recovers from another surgery done Thursday.
His cousin, Manuela Navarro, said Flores fell off a pier that is 30 to 40 feet high into shallow water - hitting his head.
Navarro said doctors in Greenville told her Flores suffered a stroke sometime before or after falling off the pier, which left half of his body paralyzed.
She said her cousin was airlifted from Greenville to Duke to have surgery to repair the veins that supply blood to head that were damaged in the fall and that doctors told them to expect the worst.
She said miraculously Flores survived the operation but that he had another stroke - leaving the other half of his body paralyzed too.
The family is thoroughly shaken up. They said they don't have any health insurance and that Flores was the sole provider for the family. He is set for more surgery.
