Person rescued from Durham apartment fire, taken away in ambulance

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham emergency crews responded to an apartment fire in the 500 block of Liberty Street on Saturday night.

Our crew on the scene reported one person was rescued from the burning upstairs apartment.

That person was put on a stretcher and taken away in an ambulance.

The area was covered with smoke, but it appeared the fire was contained to the one apartment, according to our crew on the scene.

The condition of the victim is not yet known. Details surrounding the fire have not been released.
