New public art to debut New Year's Eve in Raleigh
Get a preview of the new public art display that will be unveiled for Raleigh's New Year's Eve festivities.

RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- In downtown Raleigh, crews are starting to put together an enormous aluminum video screen that will be set inside a brightly colored sculpture on the side of First Citizens Bank.

It's the latest public art installment by the City of Raleigh by local artist Matt McConnell.

The project cost about $85,000. And McConnell and the city's art board have been talking about it and planning it for nearly three years.

It'll be unveiled during the city's New Year's Eve festivities. But McConnell invited ABC11 to his studio, a huge warehouse downtown, to see how it's coming together.
