One hurt after shooting outside Fayetteville Food Lion

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police say a man shot someone who reportedly swung a knife at him outside of a Food Lion in Fayetteville on Friday night.

It happened just at 9:07 p.m. at the Food Lion in the 3000 block of Rosehill Road.

Authorities said Marquel White, 26, was leaving the Food Lion while carrying his 2-year-old daughter when a man began following him.

The man yelled expletives at White and ran up to him swinging what detectives believe was a knife.

White fired a handgun at the male striking him in the abdomen.

The victim was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A knife and sheath were found on the ground near White's vehicle.

The investigation is still ongoing.
