Man charged in Fayetteville sexual assault arrested

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault in Fayetteville earlier this month.



The crime was reported July 11 near the area of Russell Street and the Eastern Boulevard corridor in Fayetteville.



Jeremy Asbury, 23, was arrested Wednesday in Rockingham, Richmond County.



Police believe the victim got a ride from Asbury.



Asbury was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon in reference to the sexual assault.



Asbury was given a $175,000 secure bond in Richmond County and was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center Thursday.
