Fayetteville man charged in sex assault of 11-year-old

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual offense against a minor.

On Friday, detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department's Youth Services Unit arrested Celestino Lopez Hernandez, 32, of the 200 block of Plymouth Street.

The alleged incident took place in January at the same address, and involved an 11-year-old acquaintance of Hernandez's.

He is charged with first-degree statutory sex offense.

Hernandez remains at the Cumberland County Detention Center on $1 million secure bond.
