FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Authorities in Fayetteville have arrested a man who they said is responsible for the kidnapping and raping of a woman.
Police said the incident happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the Knights Inn in the 2800 block of Bragg Boulevard.
According to police, the victim was approached by a man with a handgun and made her get into his vehicle.
Authorities said the suspect then drove the victim to a vacant house in the area and sexually assaulted her.
Wednesday, police charged 19-year-old Rodney Nesbitt with first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping.
Nesbitt and another teen are also suspects in an armed robbery that happened Tuesday evening.
Around 5 p.m., authorities said two men were soliciting yard work in the 900 block of North Hill Road when they robbed an elderly man at gunpoint.
The suspects fled with the homeowner's 2014 black Ford Mustang.
Police later spotted the vehicle at a gas station late Wednesday morning.
Officers attempted to pull stop the vehicle, but the driver did not stop said took officers on a high-speed chase through Fayetteville. Police said during the pursuit, the driver of the stolen Mustang pointed a semi-automatic handgun at a officer.
The chase ended in the Tiffany Pines neighborhood with three suspects fleeing the vehicle on foot.
After a brief foot chase, the driver of the vehicle, Nesbitt, along with 16-year-old Zaakimm Muhammud Caughman and 17-year-old Shariff Ysalaam Caughman were taken into custody.
"The crimes were just progressing in their violence and intensity," Fayetteville police lieutenant John Somerindyke said. "We anticipated this getting worse and worse, so that was our number one priority to get these guys off the street."
Zaakimm Caughman is charged with robbery, motor vehicle theft, and other charges.
Shariff Caughman, faces an obstruction charge.
