Fire damages Knightdale home

KNIGHTDALE (WTVD) -- Fire damaged a home in eastern Wake County on Thursday.

It happened on South Smithfield Road in Knightdale just after 7 p.m.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were shooting through the roof.

Firefighters from Eastern Wake, Knightdale and Wendell fire departments fought the fire.

A couple living in the home had gone to the store and were not home at the time. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
