Video shows soldiers protecting the American flag during storm

TAYLOR, MICHIGAN -- Two Army sergeants are seen protecting an American flag during an intense storm in Michigan.

The men braved high winds, lightning and hail to recover the flag after severe weather had knocked the flag pole to the ground.

"Everything we stand for, the freedoms that we have, we carry it on our shoulders everyday," said Sgt. Jared Ferguson
