ABC11 gets sneak peak of Beer Garden
ABC11 got a sneak peak of Raleigh's new Beer Garden, which opens Friday

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The man who gets a lot of credit for helping revitalize Glenwood South is opening a new destination bar and restaurant.

Niall Hanley owns several downtown hotspots, including Hibernian Pub, Solas nightclub, and now the Raleigh Beer Garden, which is just days from opening to the public.

"So the premise of any good beer garden is obviously huge outdoor space," Hanley said.

The new Raleigh Beer Garden has tons of outdoor space, from the ground floor to the roof overlooking downtown.

Hanley designs all of his downtown businesses.

"The (Hibernian) pub's very ornate, Solas is a little bit more modern, and this is just chill," Hanley explained of the new Beer Garden. "It lends itself to the concept, which is cool, (casual), enjoy."

When guests first walk in, they see a high-end cocktail bar, complete with locally distilled spirits. The establishment boasts 144 North Carolina craft beers on tap.

"With all these amazing craft breweries popping up everywhere, and the quality of them...the idea is to have a venue to showcase it all and draw people to the area," Hanley explained.

Upstairs, guests will find an additional 222 beers from across the country and around the world. That totals 366 beers on tap.

"You can come in here and have a different craft beer every day of the year."

But does Raleigh really need another bar?

"Why not? Isn't it fab, this town is growing...it's exploding," Hanley exclaimed. "The Hibernian is literally down the street, I don't feel like we're competing, I think we're bringing more people to the area. The more restaurants and bars you have in a certain area, you get synergy."

The Beer Garden will serve food like pizzas, burgers, salads, and appetizers. It opens to the public Tuesday at 11 a.m.
