CHICAGO -- Frozen broccoli cuts sold in 11 states are being recalled over fears of listeria contamination.

Alimentos Congelados, S.A. voluntarily recalled 1,800 cases of frozen broccoli distributed to stores in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina.

The affected bags have the UPC code 5193300110.

Anyone who has purchased one of the recalled bags is urged to throw it away.

Listeria contamination causes serious and at times fatal infections in children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

The company says there have been no reports of illness so far.
