Goldsboro man charged in armed robbery of furniture store

GOLDSBORO (WTVD) -- Goldsboro Police arrested a man Sunday in connection with the armed robbery of a furniture store.

The robbery happened Thursday at Goldsboro Used Furniture, 151 N. Center St.

The victim, Wiley Williamson, reported that a man came into the store and hit him in the head several times with a metal object. The suspect then took the money out of his Williamson's wallet and fled.

Philip Andrew Kirby, 30, of the 200 block of Vinwood Avenue in Goldsboro, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and also served with two orders for arrest on unrelated charges.

Kirby is being held in the Wayne County Jail on a $60,000 secured bond.
