Police arrest daughter of woman found in freezer
Marcella Jean Lee was arrested in New Hanover County on Friday

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- The daughter of a woman found dead in a deep freezer this past May is now in custody.

Marcella Jean Lee, 56, was arrested in New Hanover County on charges of concealing or failing to report a death.

Authorities say her mother, 75-year-old Arma Ann Roush of Goldsboro, was found inside the freezer after a neighbor said she bought it from the elderly woman's daughter at a yard sale for $30.

Roush was last seen alive in August 2015 at her Holly Street home where she lived with her daughter, according to police.

The medical examiner has listed her death as natural with no signs of foul play. They said her body was found to be intact.

Officials are investigating how Roush's body got into the freezer and if any other crimes have occurred since her death.

Lee was arrested and taken into custody by the Carolina Beach Police Department officers. She is being transported to Wayne County for her first appearance on Sept. 19. She is being held under a $50,000 secured bond.
