DURHAM (WTVD) -- A local fitness trainer is creating an athletic clothing line for expecting and new moms.

Kerri Green-Scott leads "fit mom" classes in Cary and Durham, and she's hoping to give new moms what they need to feel good and train hard.

If you have a little one or one on the way, it can be hard to find the me-time for a workout, but what if on top of that, you can't find clothes that fit?

That's why Green-Scott is developing her Fit Mom Athletics line.

"It's discouraging," she said. "A lot of the women that I work with find it hard to get to the gym, and when you finally do get there, and you have a clothing malfunction, it's like, 'Aw man.'"

"I tend to just end up buying really oversized regular stuff because there's not a lot of options," Lauren Davies said, Green-Scott's client who is 11 weeks pregnant.

Fit Mom Athletics is not just not only focusing on how the clothing fits but also on its structural support.

"Adding just another piece of fabric doesn't really necessarily solve the problem," Green-Scott said. "All it does is just get something else to slide down."

She's developing pants with back support, tops and sports bras for breastfeeding, and shorts with removable belly bands.

"Putting on something that allows you to do those activities can be a really important part of staying healthy, mentally and physically, through that time," Susan Horrell said, Green-Scott's client who is 28 weeks pregnant.

Green-Scott's clothing line is patent pending right now, and she's created a Kickstarter campaign ahead of her spring launch.
