Patients affected by data breach at dermatology clinic
Personal information, including Social Security numbers, was compromised.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- Central Dermatology of Chapel Hill has sent notices to 76,401 patients, residing in all 50 states and 11 countries, that they could be affected by a data breach.

The clinic said personal information - including Social Security numbers - could have been compromised by malware on one of its computer servers.

It said patient bank account and payment card information were not compromised and electronic medical records were not on the server.

The clinic has arranged free credit monitoring for all affected patients through Equifax. Patients that would like to enroll in the credit monitoring, or have any questions, should call a dedicated hotline at (800) 448-6104.
