WAKE FOREST (WTVD) -- Operation Coming Home presented North Carolina National Guard Sergeant Kyle Snyder and his family with a key to their new Wake Forest home Tuesday.

Snyder was named the recipient of the organization's 11th Hero Home.

Several members of the military, volunteers and business representatives gathered to say thank you to Snyder during a celebration ceremony.

Snyder suffered severe leg and brain injuries when a suicide bomber attacked his squad while serving in Afghanistan in 2012.

The Purple Heart recipient served 14 years in the U.S. Army and National Guard Bureau. He also served in the Navy, Coast Guard and Virginia National Guard.

He said he and his family want to pay it forward.

This is the third house the organization has built this year. For more information visit http://operationcominghome.com
