2 hurt in crash on Highway 55 near Highway 540 in Wake County

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A serious wreck in Wake County shut down part of a major highway Friday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. on N.C. Highway 55 near N.C. Highway 540.

At one point all westbound lanes were closed and two eastbound lanes were closed.

It's still unclear what led up to the crash, but a truck and a car were involved.

Cary police say two people were hurt and taken to the hospital.
