RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Authorities have made an arrest following an all-out manhunt for the driver they say was responsible for a serious wreck on Interstate 540 Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened around 3:40 p.m. along I-540 between Leesville Road and Glenwood Avenue when two cars collided, causing one of the cars to overturn and end up in the median guardrail.

Raleigh police said the driver, 62-year-old Margarito Vega Acevedo, fled on foot into a wooded area after plowing into the other car.

No one was hurt in the overturned vehicle, but investigators said three people in the van that caused the accident were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Acevedo was arrested late Monday night after police searched several neighborhoods in north Raleigh, around Brier Creek.

The 62-year-old is charged with leaving the scene of a crash and driving while his license was revoked--apparently for a prior DWI.

According to authorities, there were beer cans in Acevedo's van and the driver's side smelled like alcohol. However, it was unknown if Acevedo was drinking on Sunday since his arrest came more than 24 hours after the crash.
