John Stamos checks in to rehab for substance abuse

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Actor John Stamos has checked himself into rehab for substance abuse, his publicist confirmed Friday.

The 51-year-old was arrested and issued a citation for driving under the influence last month in Beverly Hills. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an unspecified medical condition.

Stamos tweeted the next morning thanking the Beverly Hills Police Department and the hospital.

Stamos' team declined to comment on the issue and requested privacy.
