Port-a-Potty protest held outside State Capitol
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- About two dozen protesters gathered in front of the State Capitol, waving signs that read "No H8 in my ST8" and "We are not this (with a picture of an egg)," and shouting at cars that honked as they passed.
In front of them was a green portable toilet. Organizer Stephanie Bowman says she brought it to the Capitol as a tongue-in-cheek "thank you" to Gov. Pat McCrory for House Bill 2.
The bill directly targets and negates a Charlotte ordinance allowing people who identify as transgender to choose which bathroom they use. It also prohibits municipalities statewide from adopting LGBT-friendly ordinances that go further than state law.
Opponents have been outspoken, calling the new law discriminatory. Supporters, on the other hand, see it as pushing back against a city council that "lost its mind," as one conservative state legislator put it.

McCrory called the Charlotte ordinance a "breach of basic privacy."
Critics challenge that, and the ACLU told ABC11 it's preparing a challenge in court. The Raleigh-based civil liberties advocate group says they could file a suit as soon as next week.
