RALEIGH -- Attention all Lord of the Rings fans, this is one concert you do not want to miss! ABC11 got a behind-the-scenes look at first rehearsal for the concert series before kicking off the tour Friday at Red Hat Amphitheater.

Peter Jackson's award winning Lord of the Ring series will be projected digitally on a high-definition screen while the combined forces of the North Carolina Symphony, North Carolina Master Chorale and the Raleigh Boychoir use music to bring the film to life.

"If you love the movies, you will love the live action concert," Associate Conductor Ben Phelps explained.

The concert will be a North Carolina first, with more than 255 performers on stage at the same time, all playing while the audience watches the first movie in the Lord of the Rings series.

So why bring this event to Raleigh? Michelle Bradley, Director of Marketing with the Duke Energy Center said they wanted to take a risk on something that has never been done before.

Bradley added that her team contacted the men and women who own the rights to the movie and asked if the concert series would be willing to play at a great venue in downtown Raleigh.

The agency that owns the movie rights sent down the conductor, associate conductor, soloist and a crew but the musical talent is all local.

The next stop for the soloist is Geneva, Switzerland.
