KNIGHTDALE, NC (WTVD) -- Police say a cyclist on a trip from Massachusetts to Florida who was reported missing in the Knightdale area has been found dead.

The Knightdale Police Department said before 66-year-old Richard Moreau went missing, he was last seen on the evening of September 17 leaving the Verizon store located on 6807 Knightdale Blvd.

Knightdale police found Moreau's body Wednesday in his tent near US-highway 264 alternate in rural Nash County, just west of the town of Middlesex. They said his death appears to be from natural causes.

"Our hearts to go out to this family who has worked so hard to find their loved one," said Knightdale Police Captain Jacqui Boykin. "We can't thank them enough for being accessible and doing everything they could to help."

Moreau was fulfilling a dream of riding from his home in North Attleboro, Massachusetts to Florida.
