SPRING LAKE (WTVD) -- UPDATE:

Briana Greene has been found and is safe with her family. Spring Lake Police detectives and officers confirmed about 7:35 p.m. that Briana had been located and is now in the care of her family.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

Spring Lake authorities have issued a Silver Alert for a Harnett County teen who went missing before Christmas.

Briana Greene, 16, has not been seen since December 18th, and no one has heard from the girl since she had social media contact with a family member on the 19th.

"I'm scared somebody done got her," said Shirley Green-Hill, Briana's grandmother. "She's a gorgeous little girl. She's gorgeous and I'm scared she either held up or somebody out there getting ready to put her up for prostitution."

Green-Hill said her daughter dropped off Briana and the girl's two younger sisters at her South Fifth Street home in Spring Lake. That was on the afternoon of the 18th, and the Erwin girls were going to spend the entire Christmas holiday in Spring Lake.

Green-Hill said Briana was jovial that day, and decided to walk a couple of blocks to grab a bite to eat on Spring Street. Green-Hill watched her granddaughter head in that direction.

"She was like 'Grandma, I'm gonna walk up to Checker's, okay? I want a sandwich. I'm hungry.'," said Green-Hill. "I was like 'Okay, Baby--She 16-years old. She walks there all the time."

But Briana never returned home, and one of her sisters noticed Briana's backpack of clothes was missing. At first the family thought she'd decided to take off with a friend. She'd done that before, but had always returned in a reasonable amount of time -- less than a day.

This time, Briana made some sort of Facebook contact with her uncle on Saturday, but then police say she refused to tell him where she was at the time.

That was the last time anyone heard from the girl.

"There has been no communication on Facebook," said Chief Troy McDuffie. "We've been following up on cell phones...cell phone signals. There's been no communication whatsoever."

Green-Hill said Briana takes medication for bipolar disorder and is suicidal. The Silver Alert was issued for the girl on Tuesday morning because of the loss of contact and her need for that medication.

"I don't know what is going on," said Green-Hill. "Briana, if you're out there and you see this call us, you know. Let us know something."

Briana was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray sweatshirt and black Levis shoes. If you have any information on her whereabouts, you're asked to call the Spring Lake Police Department at (910) 436-7167, or (910) 436-0350.
