WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Fire destroyed a Wake County home and left an elderly couple without a place to live.
The fire broke out in the 2200 block of Trailwood Drive around 8 p.m. Friday.
The couple was inside the home when the fire broke out. The husband, who uses an oxygen tank, told ABC11 that he's doing okay.
An official says the fire started in a bedroom.
"The gentlemen left the room, went to the back of the house, and when he came back he found the fire in the room," said Swift Creek Fire Chief Brian Woodall.
The American Red Cross is helping the couple after the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
