DURHAM (WTVD) -- A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Durham Friday evening, police said.

It happened just before 6 p.m. on Freeman Road at Obsidian Way. According to police, 40-year-old Carl Capps, of Durham, was traveling eastbound on his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle when he struck the left side of a 2012 Ford Focus, driven by Quentin Pressley, 24.

Pressley was turning left onto Freeman Road from Obsidian Way when the collision happened. Investigators believe Capps was traveling at a high speed.

Capps was taken to the hospital where he died. Pressley was not hurt.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

No charges have been filed.
