Man killed in crash on N.C. Highway 55 in Apex

APEX, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person was killed late Friday in a crash on N.C. Highway 55.

It happened just after 10 p.m. in Apex.

Troopers say the victim is 20-year-old John Shank from Maryland.

Troopers say Shank was on an off ramp near the Triangle Expressway, when he hit an embankment, and went airborne.

The vehicle flipped in mid-air and landed upside down.

Troopers say speed was a factor.

No one else was hurt.
