1 killed in single-vehicle accident in Garner

GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Garner police confirm one person was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.

Police said it happened in front of the Bruegger's Bagel shop in the 4500 block of Fayetteville Road around 3:30 a.m.

Authorities said the driver, a 43-year-old man, was driving a Chevrolet north on Fayetteville Road when he went off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver was killed. Authorities will release his name once his family is notified.

Garner police are not sure what caused the crash. Investigators are working to determine if speed or alcohol were factors.
