DURHAM N.C. (WTVD) -- A Jordan High School football player is home from WakeMed hospital after suffering a broken neck in a Friday night game against Cardinal Gibbons High School last month.

Sophomore Brandon Massey, son of Shaw University Head Football Coach Robert Massey, underwent surgery for his injuries.

Thursday, the family shared a photo of Brandon and his dad with ABC11.

He's wearing a neck brace, but is standing on his own without help.

His dad says the Massey family thanks everyone for their prayers and well wishes.
