NASHVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- A veteran K9 officer with the Nash County Sheriff's Office is doing well after she had her leg amputated.

Sasha is resting after the successful surgery to treat cancer in her left front leg.

Sgt. Greg Adams, Sasha's handler, said a spot on her leg was indeed Sarcoma so the veterinarian opted to have her leg removed.

The Nash County Sheriff's Office said Sasha is the oldest K9 on the force and is beloved in the community for her sweet personality.

"They are like members of the family, she's with me every day that I work, she's my rock, she's my partner." Sgt. Adams said of his K9 partner.

In 2014, she found a missing boy.

You can leave a message for her on the Nash County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
