A new study adds to the growing evidence that moderate coffee drinking is good for you.

Harvard researchers looked at data from thousands of people.

Those who drank between 1 and 3 cups of coffee per day had a lower risk of dying earlier from any cause - including heart disease, neurological disease, type 2 diabetes, or suicide.

The protective effects were seen with both regular and decaf, suggesting it's not just caffeine that provides the benefits, but possibly something in the compounds of coffee beans.

The results of the study were published Monday in the journal Circulation.
