GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Highway Patrol said one person was killed in a car accident on I-40 near Garner on Saturday morning.

He was identified by authorities as 19-year-old Eddie Urieta-Yanez of Raleigh.

Troopers said the crash happened on I-40 west just after Highway 70 just after 3:40 a.m.

Highway Patrol said Urieta-Yanez was parked on the roadside of I-40 at the end of the merge lane onto I-40 from Highway 70.

A box truck coming from Highway 70 onto I-40 didn't slow down and hit the car, officials said. After hitting it, the truck went over the car and stopped 150 yards away.

The truck driver was identified by troopers and Brendan Hurley, 44, of Lucama.

No charges have been filed.
