DURHAM (WTVD) -- Authorities in Durham are investigating a fatal shooting outside a convenience store.

It happened in the 1100 block of West Chapel Hill Street at the University Market and Gazelle gas station around 12:15 p.m. Monday.

When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Raiford Matthews Jr. lying in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed. Authorities are currently searching for a possible gunman.

Nearby Immaculata Catholic School was on lockdown as a precaution. Duke University also alerted their campus community about the suspect.
