CLAYTON (WTVD) -- A Clayton man faces a felony child-abuse charge after police said he sent an infant to the hospital on New Year's Eve.

The Clayton Police Department responded Thursday evening about 9:40 p.m. to the Children's Emergency Department at WakeMed in reference to a 4-month-old boy with skeletal injuries. The child had been transferred to WakeMed from Johnston Health Clayton after having been injured in the 1400 block of Tulip Street in Clayton.

Police determined the infant's injuries were not caused by an accident. The child is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days, police said.

Chenault Lamont Moore of the 1400 block of Tulip Street in Clayton was arrested Tuesday charged with a felony count of child abuse inflicting serious physical injury.

Moore is being held at the Johnston County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured bond.

Police have not confirmed Moore's relation to the child.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
