JOHNSTON COUNTY (WTVD) -- North Carolina State Troopers worked to rescue a man and a woman from a serious accident in Johnston County on Saturday, according to our crew on the scene.

The single-vehicle accident happened in the 7100 block of Brogden Road.

Our crew said the male driver was pinned in the car for more than 30 minutes. Firefighters from Brogden and Princeton Fire Departments used hydraulic tools to cut the car apart and free the driver.

Selma EMS and Johnston County EMS rushed the man and woman to WakeMed. A helicopter was requested to transport them, but it could not fly due to weather.

Troopers told our crew on the scene the victims had broken bones. The extent of their injuries are unknown.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, but troopers said it looks like the car ran off the road and struck a tree.
