Authorities in Burlington investigating fatal shooting

BURLINGTON, NC (WTVD) -- Authorities in Burlington are investigating a man's death as a homicide after he was found shot late Tuesday night.

Around 11:18 p.m., police received several calls about shots being fired in the area of Holt and Sellars streets.

When officers arrived, they found 41-year-old Samuel Scoggins Jr. laying on Sellars Street near Holt Street and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Scoggins was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not said anything about a possible suspect or suspects.
