High school students spot seal on NC beach

PENDER COUNTY (WTVD) -- Two high school students enjoying a sunny Wednesday afternoon when school had an early release day came across an animal not usually seen on North Carolina beaches.

Topsail High School students Ryan Covil and Gianni Buffalino were boating around Lea Island when they encountered a seal basking in the sun, wcti12.com reported.

They recorded video of the seal as it headed back into the water.

Lea Island is between Topsail Island and Figure 8 Island in North Carolina.
