ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- Rocky Mount police said a 13-year-old girl was shot inside her home on Thursday night because of a fight that was happening nearby.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Nashville Road around 11:30 p.m. after they received a call that the 13-year-old had been shot.
Detectives said two groups of people were arguing near the victim's homes. Police said they believe a stray bullet from someone involved in the fight hit the victim's home and caused the injury.
The victim's name has not been released. She was taken to UNC Nash Hospital in Rocky Mount and later airlifted to Vidant Hospital in Greenville for treatment.
At last report, the victim was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made.
