Police: Fort Bragg soldier kills fellow soldier in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened late Saturday night.



Officers were called to the 400 block of Lands End Road just before midnight. When they got there, they found a man who had been shot inside the home.



Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Myles David Penix. He was alone in a room with "a known associate" when he was shot once in the chest by Ryan Daniel Walker, 24, according to police.



Penix and Walker were both United States Army Soldiers in F Company, 2nd Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg.



Walker has been charged with first degree murder and taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
