Ringo Starr cancels June 18 show in Cary because of HB2

CARY, N.C. -- Ringo Starr has canceled his Cary, N.C. performance in opposition to the passing of HB2, according to a press release sent out Wednesday.

The "All Starr Tour Show" at Koka Booth Amphitheatre was scheduled for June 18.

"I'm sorry to disappoint my fans in the area, but we need to take a stand against this hatred. Spread peace and love," Ringo stated.

Ringo, formerly of The Beatles, asked fans to support organizations that are fighting to overturn HB2.

Earlier this month, Bruce Springsteen canceled his concert in Greensboro, also citing the rights of LGBT citizens.
